AP STUDIO ART- PHOTOGRAPHY PORTFOLIO (Need Approval)

For 11th or 12th grade only. Students wanting to take AP must have taken art class or photography class the year before. This is a demanding class that requires a highly motivated, independent and talented student. Students complete three parts of an art portfolio called Quality, Concentration, and Breadth. This includes a total of 29 photographs of art the whole year. There is approx. a photograph due each week and a half. However, completing the summer assignments will alleviate the workload during the year. The concentration section is 12 photos based on one theme and then uploaded digitally to college board. The breadth section is 12 photos showing a variety of your talent and then uploaded digitally to collegeboard. The quality section is 5 printed photos and these are the only 5 pieces you need to physically send in. The entire submission of the portfolio is the test. Students must spend a lot of time outside of school photographing and planning.

PHOTOGRAPHY 

Students need a digital camera for this course- any brand is good. A cell phone can not be used as a camera. This is a beginning photography class. It is an introduction to the History of Photography, Traditional Darkroom Photography, Digital photography, Photo Crafts and earning how to take successful photos. Students are required to bring a Digital Camera to every single class, as well as the charger. In this class they take field trips and learn how to take the best pictures possible.


ART 

Art class explores the basic design principles and sources of design inspiration fundamental to all visual arts. In this class you will be encouraged to use your talent and creativity to create different projects and submissions for shows and contests. In this class you learn how to paint, decorate, sketch, plan and maintain a sketchbook.


CERAMICS 

Ceramics is a new class at ISPA. is an introductory course in ceramics covering basic methods of techniques. Students will learn the basic vocabulary of ceramics as well as methods of surface treatment, firing, working a kiln and other related aspects. Students will get to make cups, bowls, sculptures, and pieces from different traditions and countries, along with personalized works to name a few projects.
